Me at Houdini HIVE 2024

Had an amazing time presenting at Houdini HIVE Horizon 2024! 🎬✨ I broke down one of my favorite slow-motion shots from Fallout (Season 1) and shared some tips and tricks for FLIP simulation. Grateful for the opportunity to connect with such a talented community! A huge thank you to Framestore and SideFX for the support and opportunity!

Not gonna lie, stepping up to do this presentation wasn’t the easiest thing for me. Public speaking has never been my strong suit, and the pressure of delivering something meaningful made my heart race a bit. But honestly? I loved every minute of it!

The goal was clear: craft a 30-minute presentation that was engaging and comprehensive enough for all levels of understanding. The journey started with gathering all the material I needed and deciding what to include and how to present it. With only half an hour to work with, I had to be super strategic about which parts of the setup I wanted to dive into. I wanted to ensure everyone would walk away learning something new, but I had to keep it concise.

After much deliberation, I narrowed it down to the most impactful elements and the tools that aren't too obvious but can be very handy. It’s like trying to fit an entire movie into a 5-minute trailer! In the end, I believe I found a good balance. I walked away feeling accomplished—not just because I got through it, but because I truly enjoyed the process. The next time an opportunity arises, I’ll definitely be ready to embrace the challenge again!
